Welcome to the Hebrew Educational Alliance Preschool

The 2010 Preschool Registration forms are now available by clicking the following link:

Preschool is a rewarding experience for children and their parents. It makes an important contribution to each child’s growth and development through deep respect for the individual child, emphasis on developing creative thinking, a positive approach to language development, and promotion of cooperative effort. At the Hebrew Educational Alliance Preschool we are committed to building an inclusive and diverse Jewish community of learners.

We invite you to look into our happy, noisy, creative classrooms and see children at play. We want you to understand the validity of play and its importance in learning. Children learn through play based activities that allow them to mimic and define life experiences and achievements. Parents and teachers working together can create a rich and stimulating environment for your children.

Hebrew Educational Alliance PreschoolPreschool Philosophy

Our purpose and prime responsibility is to provide a safe, wholesome environment where children enjoy socializing and learning. It is important that children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years develop a positive self image, which will provide a solid beginning for further development. Children are involved in enjoyable learning activities both directed and spontaneous, in groups or individually, always in a positive atmosphere of encouragement, cooperation, guidance, and respect.

Program Goals

HEA Preschool’s programs are a result of careful and detailed planning in accordance with the best available knowledge of child growth and development. The programs are designed to meet the individual child’s needs and to promote continuous growth in the social, emotional, intellectual, physical and creative areas of development. Our programs emphasize the development of a positive Jewish identity through experiences involving Shabbat, Jewish holidays, blessings, culture and values.

Play is the major activity of all young children and the basic ingredient of their learning. It is the medium for self expression in the way each child organizes and makes sense of the world. To play is to invent, hypothesize, test, and discover. It provides the most permanent and meaningful learning of cognitive concepts. Play promotes social values. Social sensitivity is not something that is suddenly achieved. It is a slow process that involves learning how to share, cooperate, and empathize with others. Through play experiences the child learns to initiate and sustain relationships with others, building interpersonal trust and emotional maturity. We provide a large variety of constructive, dramatic, and creative materials and experiences.

In pursuit of our goals, the Hebrew Educational Alliance Preschool, guided by its rabbinic, education staff, and lay leaders, ascribes to the rabbinic teaching:

“The world is sustained through Torah, Avodah – worship, and Gemilut Hasadim – acts of living kindness.”
- Pirke Avot 1:2
