Our Lights Never Go Out - Kislev-Tevet 5780 Chanukah 2019
Throughout the years, the Hebrew Educational Alliance has had a policy that no Jewish person who wants to be a member and no child who wants a Jewish education would be turned away due to financial need. While the overall economy is much stronger this year, it has not improved for a significant number of our members. Therefore, the number and magnitude of dues and tuition reduction requests still remains at a very high level. As always, the Finance Committee and Board have carefully monitored our budget to see that our dollars are used effectively. However, we still find that we need an additional $60,000 to reach our financial goals for the year. Arrangements have been made to credit these donations to our Preschool Development Fund (PDF). This year, contributions to the PDF will be eligible for the full 50% Colorado Child Care Tax Credit — this is in addition to the regular tax deduction applicable to charitable donations. Because of these tax benefits, a contribution of $500 will only cost the average taxpayer between $150-$250 out-of-pocket.
