Mensch Academy (6-7)

As a continuation of Religious School, B’nai Mitzvah cohorts are engaged in a two-year program on character building. This is a time of transition, and we engage the whole family in the process.

It focuses on two aspects:

  1. A developmental aspect unique to the pre-teen years
  2. A psychological aspect regarding relationships with family and friends

The family program will include dialogue about what it means to be a teen today and how it influences them. Family sessions will be held to open dialogue about what it means to be a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. This is an opportunity for heart-to-heart conversations to compare perspectives and see alignment.

We strongly encourage all families who plan to celebrate their B’nai Mitzvah at HEA to take advantage of the complete Mensch Academy program. We strive to elevate b’nai mitzvah services into a transformative rite of passage to initiate young adolescents into emerging adulthood to understand themselves better, their roles in their families, their belonging in the Jewish community, and their purpose in the larger world. Our mission is to partner with families to make mensches out of our children.
