In partnership with the Mizel Arts and Culture Center of the JCC, the HEA is excited to host Festo! Festo!, Denver’s monthly Klezmer, Balkan and World Music concert and jam session. Aly Halpert will perform at 7:30pm followed by a dance set by Gora at 8:45pm.

Aly Halpert (she/her) is a queer Jewish musician, educator, and activist living on Lenni Lenape land in Philadelphia, PA, USA. A singer, pianist, drummer, and guitar player, Aly writes songs for building community, working for collective liberation, and visioning different worlds. Aly leads music and prayer for Jewish community, including Kol Tzedek Synagogue, Eden Village Camp, Let My People Sing, and Linke Fligl. Her first full-band album, Loosen, was released in April 2022 with Rising Song Records.  Check out Aly’s music: Loosen, Ashrei, Achat Sha’alti

Gora Gora Orkestar brings the sounds of the Old World to the Rocky Mountains performing high-energy Balkan and Klezmer music. Formed in 2009, this 11-piece brass band is dedicated to making the audience dance with driving rhythms and innovative approaches to the traditional music of Eastern Europe. Since its formation, Gora Gora has focused on learning this music with attention and authenticity, and its members have had the chance to learn from experts in the field at events such as Balkan Camp and KlezKanada.

This concert is generously sponsored by the Alpert Family Memorial Fund, and all HEA music programming is supported by the HEA Music Circle – Caryn Osterman and Mark Alpert, Amity and Marc Cooper, Mindy and Rick Miller, Dr. Lee Weisbard and David Rosental, Cherie Karo Schwartz and Gabriella and Dr. Peter Gottlieb. Festo Festo is made possible by sustaining support from Mark Alpert, Jane E Rosenbaum and base Denver
