However, that was less than last year due to changes in the weather – a cold, wet spring delayed planting warm-season crops by a month, followed by more than a month of above 90-degree temps — all of which made the plants suffer. We’re looking into a cost-effective yet elegant shade cover for next season, as the temperatures are only expected to get hotter. Over 90 tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, cukes, and zukes can’t make fruit (the pollen dies) – a growing concern across the West for agriculture.
