Hebrew School (K-6)

The ancient language of our people still unites all Jewish communities all over the world. It is the heart of Jewish worship and central to our HEART. Classes are formed based on students’ Hebrew levels and teach basic Hebrew decoding and progress to mastery of prayers, building to the B’nai Mitzvah program.

Using the ShalomLearning Hebrew program, we will teach your children to read Hebrew, chant prayers, and understand their meaning. At home, your child can log into the ShalomLearning portal to practice.

Starting in fall 2025, Hebrew alef-bet, decoding, and vocabulary is being taught within the core Sunday School session from 9:15 am to 12:15 pm for Kindergarten through 5th grade. There is no longer a lunch period with Hebrew classes offered afterward. An in-person Hebrew class for 6th-grade students is being offered on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, immediately prior to Mensch Academy when it meets, as well as on other Sunday mornings noted on the HEArt calendar. For 6th graders who cannot attend the in-person class, private virtual Hebrew tutoring is available (at a higher price). Private virtual Hebrew tutoring, scheduled on weekday afternoons/evenings, is also a supplementary option for 4th and 5th grade students who would benefit from additional practice.
