6th Grade Mountain Retreat (Jan 3-5, 2020)

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM 2 days afterOur 6th Grade annual Mountain Retreat in Estes Park is January 3-5, 2020.
The entire 5781 (6th grade) cohort is invited to join us in the mountains as the New Year dawns. Anticipate a weekend of fun, team-building, learning, playing, growing, eating, singing, being outside, and a lot more at the YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park, CO.
HEA has held this retreat for many years, and it has been among our most successful and impactful programs. Past participants have said that this program helped the group feel closer to each other, challenged them to think about their own growth at this time in life, and was super fun. It’s open to any kids in the 6th grade (5781) cohort, regardless of whether they’ve been attending our Sunday classes.

Previous years' activities have included:

Time for fun and hanging out

Creative and engaging prayer / spiritual practice in the mornings and Friday evening (examples might include: a singing service led by Rabbi Gruenwald, a contemplative hike with Jacob, meditative yoga with Emily, and more!)

Jewish learning that touches deeply on the issues our teens are facing and the things they care about

Group games, challenges, and initiatives

Time to utilize the facilities at the YMCA of the Rockies and the activities they offer (which might include roller skating, basketball, volleyball, depending on availability)

Communal Shabbat meals

Hikes and guided exploration of the beautiful surroundings

Other past sessions have included: an “Ask the Adults” session, a post-Shabbat movie & discussion, and a Jewish art project on Sunday
