Mensch Academy —
As a continuation of Religious School, B’nai Mitzvah cohorts are engaged in a two-year program on character building. This is a time of transition that that the whole family is a part of. It focuses on two aspects: a developmental aspect that is unique to the pre-teen years and a psychological aspect regarding relationships with family and friends. The family program will include dialogue such as what does it mean to be a teen in today’s world, how does it influence them. Family sessions will be held to open dialogue of what it means to be a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. This is an opportunity for heart-to-heart conversations to compare perspectives and see alignment.
We are strongly encouraging all families who plan to celebrate their B’nai Mitzvah at HEA to take advantage of the full Mensch Academy program. We strive to elevate services of b'nai mitzvah into a transformative rite of passage to initiate young adolescents into emerging adulthood better understanding themselves, their roles in their families, their belonging in the Jewish community, and their purpose in the larger world. Our mission is to partner with families in the goal of making mensches out of our children.
