Osi Sladek is a child survivor of the Holocaust. Born in Czechoslovakia, he survived the Holocaust in the Tatras mountains in the Slovakia/Poland region.  Prior to the beginning of WWII, Nazi Germany began it's expansion and alliances in Europe.  In 1939 the Slovaks separated from the Czechs, and formed a new pro-Nazi government adopting Nuremberg type laws  called the "Codex Judaicus" to deal with the so-called "Jewish problem of Central Europe" and anti-Jewish laws were imposed upon the  Jews of Slovakia.  95,000 Slovakian Jews were sent to the death camps.  Of the Six Million Jews lost to the Holocaust, one and a half million were children. 

Mr. Sladek was the only child in his family to survive. Join us as we hear his story. He will also have copies of his new book "Escape to the Tatras" available.
