Jews have lived in Colombia since Spanish colonial times as "Conversos". Eventually, in the 1800s, Sephardic Jews from Jamaica and Curaçao established the first synagogues in the Colombian cities of Bogota, Cali, Medellín, Barranquilla, and Cartagena. Eventually, Ashkenazi Jews from Eastern and Northern Europe and Jews from the Ottoman Empire made their way to Colombia, joining an already vibrant community. Currently, Colombia has become a destination for a new group of Jewish immigrants from Venezuela, Argentina, Israel, England, and the United States, taking advantage of promising business opportunities, stability and an absence of antisemitism. Documentary movie and lecture presented by Carlos Zarur.
