We mourn the passing of Mervyn Fidler (Mendel ben Pinchas) born February 12, 1934, who passed November 22, 2023. A native New Yorker from the Bronx, he lived the last years of his life at Shalom Park in Denver. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie Siegel and son-in-law Matthew Siegel of Kansas City, his daughter Cheryl Ben David, and son-in-law Avi BenDavid of Avon Connecticut, Philip Fidler and daughter-in-law Jody Fidler of Denver, and grandchildren Paulina and Benjamin Siegel, Nathaniel Ben David, and Max, Jack and Anastasia Fidler.
"The Merv," as he was affectionately known, was a private 1st class during the Korean War, he hit a home run out of the old Polo Grounds in the Police Athletic Championship in high school, he was professional trumpet player, and champion horseshoe thrower later in life. He was a larger than life character who didn't mince words. If you fell short in competition, he'd say, "Remember, there's always someone better than you."
The family is at peace knowing he will be reunited with his beloved wife Barbara.
Visitation will be Monday, November 27, 5:00-8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Fidler’s home: 1601 S Emerson St.Denver, CO 80210
May the Memory of Mervyn Fidler be for a Blessing.
