We mourn the passing of Harry Martin Zansberg, beloved husband of Gertrude (Trudy) Zansberg, z”l. Harry is survived by his companion of 35 years, Stella Baum, and her extended family; his three children, Kenny (Beth) Zansberg and Fay Zansberg, and HEA member Steve (Lisa) Zansberg, and four grandchildren, Ali, Ari, Gabe, and Taylor Zansberg.
Born in pre-WWII Poland in 1926, Harry was one of only two members of his extended family to survive the Holocaust. He was liberated following four years of internment while on a death march from Flossenburg to Dachau.
Harry emigrated to New York City in 1950, married Trudy, and in 1961, the couple and their three young children moved to Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Harry founded Morlot Carpentry, a subcontracting company that grew in size to be capable of handling the installation of all of the interior doors in the World Trade Center Twin Towers and Co-op City apartment complex, to refurbish Yankee Stadium and the Statue of Liberty, as well as the construction of numerous commercial buildings, hospitals, and housing complexes throughout the Tri-State area. Harry was a generous philanthropist, donating his time, money, and energy to a wide range of charitable causes. He chaired the Israeli Bonds campaign for the Northern New Jersey Region, founded the Holocaust Studies Center at Ramapo Community College, was a legacy board member of Yavneh Academy, and was President of the Northern Jersey Jewish Federation. Funeral services were held Sunday in New Jersey. We invite you to join the family for a Denver memorial this Sunday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Steve and Lisa Zansberg, 809 Steele St, Denver, CO 80206.
