Ah, winter! It certainly feels like it came in like a lion this year. With t he cold weather brings the upcoming holiday season beginning with Thanksgiving next week. Winter holidays always bring to mind gathering with friends, family, and community. Each year HEA gathers to celebrate Hanukkah together. This year will be one for the books.
Our HEA Hanukkah celebration on Sunday, December 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. will be out of this world! Our space-themed Hanukkah will have something for everyone, young and old. We will begin our event with music from Eitan and the HEA band. You can expect Hanukkah tunes, new and old, to entertain you while exploring Hanukkah-themed activities, including a visit to the mobile Fiske Planetarium from Boulder, all while feasting on Albert’s famous latkes and other snacks from Cohen’s Cuisine.
Our celebration will continue with candle lighting, so bring your own menorah to fulfill this mitzvah with others from the community. While the rabbi will light our giant menorah made by our religious school, you can light your menorah brought from home. All of our light together will bring in the holiday with warmth and gratitude.
Following our community lighting, we will have an epic galactic dance party with DJ and laser show. This glow dance party will get everyone in the mood to celebrate.
Each time we gather to celebrate, especially in the winter, we should never forget those who are not as fortunate. Many in Denver do not have a warm roof over their head and good food to eat. That is why we ask everyone to participate in our HEA Connect Tikkun Olam “Hope 2 Home” gift drive. The Hope 2 Home HEAConnect group is gathering items to make gift bags for those at the Delores Project shelter and Safe Outdoor Spaces this year. Please bring something from the list below to the Hanukkah program, or order an item from the Amazon wish list.
