We mourn the passing this week of our dear friend, Honey Wedgle-Gesundheit. When she walked into the room, her infectious personality and easy laugh filled the room with a warmth that could only come from her heart. If she didn’t know you, she would come over, and before you knew it, you were friends. And then she would quiz you. If your family ever had any connection to Denver, she could tell you who you were related to in our tight Denver community. Her grandparents were founding members of the HEA, and she and her family remained tightly connected as it moved from the Westside. But she never left the Westside completely, as she was part of various groups helping to keep that history alive. She was a women of valor and always involved in some committee or another. Honey worked tirelessly on various inclusion and disability committees, making sure everyone had a voice and a place in the Jewish community. She was also the face of Sisterhood – greeting you at every event, serving as president and most recently treasurer, following in the footsteps of her mother, Grace Wedgle z”l. She was the essence of l’dor v’dor, sharing the love of making a kosher Jewish home to many women, and ensuring that those traditions and values were passed on to our youth by enabling them to participate in USY, IST, Jewish day camps and more. Above it all, her biggest love was her family – her sister Yetta, her brother Norman z”l, her husband David, her sons, Marcus and Isaac and her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
You will be greatly missed.
